Nonie at work
As a wife and grandmother, Nonie certainly has enough to do. Yet between constantly hopping between helping her family, spending time with her husband, and still working a part-time job, she still manages to somehow find a way to help even more people each and every day. Amazingly enough in fact, she does it while she relaxes. You see, for her, that relaxation comes from crocheting.
Over the years, that simple act of relaxation has blessed both her friends and family with an assortment of blankets and afghans to warm their spirits. It made Nonie happy. And it made her friends and family happy.
A few years ago however, she heard about CASA Partners, a regional charity focused on helping foster children. Specifically, their My Bag program puts together duffle bags of clothes, stuffed toys, a blanket, and personal care items to help ease their transition into new foster families. Specifically, she heard they were in need of blankets for those bags. To her the thought of a frightened child walking in to a new foster home with only the clothes on their back was all she needed to hear. If she could at least get them a blanket of their own, then she would. She’s been doing it ever since.
Now, because of Nonie and charities like CASA Partners, there are foster kids receiving comfort during their transition into their new foster homes.
